Education

  • Ph.D., Duke University, Durham, NC, 1998. Concentration in systematic and historical theology. Dissertation: "Psalm 8: A Theological and Historical Analysis of its Interpretation." Directed by Geoffrey Wainwright.
  • M.Div., magna cum laude, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, MA, 1990. Concentration in biblical studies and theology.
  • B.A., cum laude, Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA, 1982. Major in music performance.

Margaret Kim Peterson has taught at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, Duke Divinity School, Duke University, and Cornell College. She has been a theology professor at Eastern University since 1998, teaching such courses as Patristic and Medieval Christianity, Reformation and Modern Christianity, Christian Marriage (team-taught with Dwight N. Peterson), Christian Hospitality, and Calvin and the Reformed Tradition. Dr. Peterson teaches the fourth semester THC course, Introduction to Christian Theology.

Dr. Peterson's most recent book is Keeping House: The Litany of Everyday Life (Jossey-Bass, 2007). She has also published a memoir, Sing Me to Heaven: The Story of a Marriage (Brazos Press, 2003) and a number of other book chapters and journal articles.

Dr. Peterson also enjoys knitting, cooking for an appreciative crowd, and spending summers in the wilds of Iowa with her husband, Dwight, and their son Mark. She is Theologian in Residence at First Presbyterian Church at Norristown.
