THE THC 360° EXPERIENCE THC IN FOCUS

Student Profiles

Ruth Chia, Freshman

Ruth Chia

I like to make jewelry, listen to music in a foreign language, do some research on stuff that I suddenly find very interesting, cook Chinese food, read books in favorite subject matters, think of ways to decorate or enhance the aesthetic appeal of my room, and when inspired, take pictures with my digital camera.

I plan on majoring in biology with a minor in European History. I am now taking a general psychology course to see if I like psychology and then taking a course required in the Bio major--genetics--in the spring.

I had no other colleges in mind when I applied for Eastern. Eastern was my first choice because it is a true Christian community in which everyone's love for God can be openly shared. If I had not gone to Eastern, I would have considered the University of Pennsylvania. However, at Eastern I am able to take classes in which the professors relate Christian values with academic studies, so I can find more meaning in my academic pursuits--not only do I gain knowledge, but I grow spiritually.
